Research on women employees of the State Historical Society of Wisconsin, 1983-1984.

Correspondence concerning the careers and manuscript collections of several women who worked at the Historical Society, primarily Mabel Clare Weaks. Of note is a letter from Marguerite Jennison Pease about her own employment at the Society (1917-1918) and impressions of Weaks together with a handwritten copy of a 1920 letter she received from Louise Phelps Kellogg, and notes on a telephone conversation with Thelma Dolan who worked with Weaks at the Filson Club (Louisville, Kentucky).

The State Historical Society was founded in 1846, chartered in 1853, and became a trustee of the state in 1855. Chapter 75, Laws of 1967, continued the Society as an independent agency.
